Fire Arms
Firearms are produced with internal stresses. As the metal is bored, reamed and machined mechanical stresses are created. As forging and castings cool the differing rates of temperature change introduce residual stresses.
Stresses cause barrels to twist and arc as they heat up from firing. As a result there is a stringing walking or wandering in the shot groups or shot patterns. By using the Wathen Deep Cryogenic process the barrel stresses are permanently eliminated in a way that produces a homogenously stabilized barrel. Carbon particles precipitate as carbides form into a lattice structure and fill the microscopic voids

Wathen Deep Cryogenic treatment creates a denser, smoother surface that reduces friction, heat and wear. The result is better shot groups in handguns and rifles with more consistent coverage and placement of shotgun patterns.
· Greater Accuracy (Up to 50% better grouping) · Double the Barrel Life · Much easier to Clean Please note: We are happy to treat.50 cal, bull barrels, muzzle loaders, AKs, ARs, or double-barreled shotguns and hand guns. It is our policy not to treat weapons with certain types of soft silver solder because our barrel process also takes the barrel to +325.Very few (mostly antique) barrels have soft solder. |
